Blind Spots of Master Certified Coaches
Would it surprise you that most Master Certified Coaches (MCCs) have blind spots about workplace psychology?
The science of coaching has progressed significantly in recent years, yet in my experience, even very senior MCCs have not kept up with the latest research. Even worse, most have false assumptions or beliefs about human behavior that limits their ability to help their clients realize goals.
As a result, coaches are often unaware of the latest advances in goal setting, individual differences, assessment, and the nature of coaching in other disciplines. For example, sports psychology, Agile Coaching, and Lean Six Sigma all have a deeper focus than most Executive coaches on deliberately applying coaching in-between sessions and making sure they use formal methods to assess whether or not the client has realized their ultimate goals.
With the advent of specialty coach searching software like Coaching.com, coaches who don’t produce outsized results because they lack an understanding of organizational psychology will suffer. To remain competitive it is essential that coaches be up-to-date on the latest research in the field. Only then will they be able to provide their clients with the most effective support possible and help them achieve lasting business results.
